Introduction

The objective of this module is to assist student understand the importance in the standard of service delivered to users of services and its impact on promoting independence and maximizing their choice and rights. Students will learn about relevant legislation, policies and practises, and how they contribute to organisational systems regarding the design and review services that promote independence in service users.

Students will understand the factors that affect participation, independence, choice and methods on how to asses risk and safety measures. In addition, students would be able to enhance their knowledge on administration of medication to users of services and examine strategies that are available to promote the best possible outcome for services users.

Aim
This unit is designed to explore how to empower individuals using health and social care services in order to maximise their independence.
