This is a research project that you need to complete based on the approved research proposal. You are using the same topic -
"What are the positive economic, cultural, and ethical impacts of globalisation on different business functions (e.g. operations, marketing, HR, accounting) within organisations?"
Learning Outcomes:
Learning Outcome 1 Establish project aims, objectives and timeframes based on the chosen theme
Learning Outcome 2 Conduct small-scale research, information gathering and data collection to generate knowledge to support the project.
Learning Outcome 3 Present the project and communicate appropriate recommendations based on meaningful conclusions drawn from the evidence findings and/or analysis.
Learning Outcome 4 Reflect on the value gained from conducting the project and its usefulness to support sustainable organisational performance.
Assessment
There are two parts to this assessment, firstly a written report with a section offering a critical reflection and how it affects your learning and its implication for the organisation(s) studied in the research project and secondly a presentation to the class and a panel of staff on your findings which should last 10 minutes including 2 minutes of questions and answers.
The subject matter of the report will be the research topic on globalisation and the organisation(s) agreed upon with your tutor. You cannot change the topic or any major part of the research project without agreement from your tutor.
You are to conduct a small scale research project where you both gather primary data and also review relevant secondary data. You will need to decide your methodology and also be able to both defend that choice and reliably analyse data collected. The extent of your study will be agreed between you and your tutor. Your report will compare your findings to existing secondary information and also come up with a discussion and conclusion about your findings. Afterwards, you will suggest areas for further research and then in the critical reflection, review whether the work could have been carried out in a different way.
Your answer will begin with a copy of research proposal. You will also include information on any changes to research proposal agreed with your tutor. This will include aims and objectives and/or research questions/hypotheses.
Next, a review of literature with at least 10 references of which at least six must come from a peer reviewed site. This is secondary data which will lead to a conclusion and so link with the identified aims/objectives/questions and hypotheses stated above. Referencing must be to Harvard standard.
The next section will be the methodology where you will explain how and from whom you collected data, how you did it and why you did it that way. You will comment on the strengths and weaknesses of your chosen research methodology.
After that you need to present your results gathered from the data collection methods you have used (i.e. surveys, questionnaires, semi-structured interviews). The discussion and analysis section is the most important part of the research project and will explain what your results show and how they compare to the literature and what future research could be done.
Once this section is completed, you need to provide a conclusions and recommendations section where you summarise your findings and provide recommendations for the particular organisation you have studied.
At the end comes the critical reflective review which will be no longer than 500 words. This section will reflect on what you have learned about yourself, the topic and area of research and how you would do it differently if you did it again, knowing what you know now.
Your research project should be presented following this structure:
Abstract
Introduction
Literature Review
Methodology
Results
Discussion and Analysis
Conclusions and Recommendations
Reflective Summary
References (Harvard Style)
Your raw data must be brought to the presentation, if you do not you will be referred due to an incomplete submission against the learning outcomes 2 and 3.
